In celebration of Girl-A-Matic's 3rd year anniversary + April Fool's, everyone on GAM is doing an old film poster spoof.
Ours is Bride of Wangstenstein
Ah, GAM. I was there at the beginning! Went for the Bite Me!, subscribed for the Inferno's Touch, and stayed for Chasing Rainbows. But yes, yay GAM!

... and only 4 days late. Go me!
It's the last 3 pages of Chapter 1. You should go check it out. Features Mad Gradient Action. (Which actually turned out better than I expected. Yay!)
Also, mad props to Isaac for doing such cute fillers with so little. Through the Genius of his Mind! Or something. :D
Since I only use three markers to color, they're starting to run dry again, which is both a good and bad thing. Good because I can get better variation of color. Bad because I'll have to buy new ones soon.
In other "Sushu drawing tech" related news, I've finally figured out a way of scanning the pages from my sketchbook in a way that gets clean pages, instead of the nasty "this side of the page is too far from the scanner because of the spiral binding and is therefore a different shade of gray from everywhere else and is impossible to get rid of cleanly" bit. I'm so conflicted about using a sketchbook for drawing this stuff. I like the texture, and I like the fact that it's in a book, so I don't have to worry about losing pages or whatnot, but the paper is yellow in color and is hard to scan. In comparison, all of the prologue was drawn on this shiny stiff white paper that I stole from my dad.
On the topic of artsy issues, I'm wondering if I should change the shading technique a bit. For example, switch to pencils, or perhaps computer shading?
Pencils:
Pros: more textured/graduated shading. More than 3 values. No worry about running out of ink, easier for large color fields. (Say, when it's dark at night, which it has been for a while now). Dirt cheap.
Cons: smudges way too easily, not good for dark colors.
Computer:
Pro: lots more gradation. Even cheaper than pencil. (This was done with computer, as well as some pages of the prologue)
Con: no textury goodness, overall cruder strokes. Also, must have tablet and computer to do shading.
Stick with brush-pens
Pro: hand-drawn (portability, increased finesse), can get 3-5 values depending on freshness of brush-pen
Con: not that many values, and even crappier on concept of "gradient", having to resort to computer gradients.
Completely different visuals: black brush-pens outline, color field fill-ins.
Pro: in color, relatively easy to do on computer (no need tablet)
Con: flat art
Anyways, comment if you have any suggestions, or if you want to trash-talk the art in general

Hello, wee readers of the CGU Blog! I'm gonna be a total bum and update with filler. Not only that, it's going to have to last you next week, too, unless sudden inspiration strikes in the post-con stupor.
Here's what's posted on CGU, which I find amusing, but Isaac might not. :X

This is all thanks to a productive Comickers meeting, followed by a MUNUC meeting soooo long we got kicked out by the building people.
